had a chance to open up diff case gears look ok and there is no metal in the gear oil. the ring gear say d30 456fzz so im guessing this means 456 gears? jacked the truck up and turned the wheel and u-joint was really loose and making a clicking noise so im guessing this was the noise i was hearing when I was driving it?

had same problem just had my mechanic fix it you might want to try putting gear oil in it
