Default front Axle

Im looking to buy a '93 XJ. The guy told me the front axle isnt stock and he thinks its an AMC 20. My question is what is a better front axle a Dana 30 high pinion or the AMC 20? and also what axle would have come in it stock?

HP30 is better IMO then the AMC 20 and highly doubt they swapped the axle out nothing up front bolts in other then an LP30 from a TJ or late XJ

D30 would have come stock, and more than likely what you have

The 8.25 29 spline is a good axle it is 1 spline away from the strength of a dana 44.You can run up to 35" tires with little to no problem.

the 29 spline 8.25 will take a 35 all day long unless you want to get stupid with it its a good axle.
