Default Freaky Horn

Ok So I searched all this forum and cant find anything relating to my problem. My horn doesnt work in my 94 XJ. Its an electrical problem because if I put the fuse back in the horn just honks until I take the fuse out or turn the ignition on. It does not have an alarm. once the key is in and the ignition turned even slightly it stops but the horn doesnt blow when you press the horn button. Its not that important but if anyone knows how to fix this please chime in. Yes I have checked all the relays and fuses.

sounds like it's in the column somewhere.

grab one from a wrecker with a key and swap them out. it's easier than it sounds.

That sounds like a pain for just a horn. I was just going to rewire it to a momentary switch. I was just wondering if anyone has had this happen before.

i had that same problem on my xj and itwas the horn button on the steering wheel. i just rewired the horn to a button switch an now my horn works again. so u can do like me and hook up a button switch or go to ur local junk yard and get a colum and or steering wheel.

Thats what I thought. can I just wire it straight from the fuseblock or do I have to start somewhere else and also where did you mount yours.

all i did is used a test light and found a 25amp fuse(the higher the amps the better) that had power all the time(under the dash) from a 2 wire push botton switch u can get from ur local parts store for a few dollars. run one wire to the buse block and the other wire threw a hole on the firewall and ran it directly to the horn behind the front bumper. if u do it corectly u will push the buttom and the horn will honk. mount the button somewhere convient so u push it easily when those dumbass drivers get in front of u.

If u have double horns u can run another wire from one horn to the other(from side to side) and that will make it so both horns honk.

hope this works for u it worked great for me.

It's probably the little spring under the horn button. Take it apart and check it. Just pull the horn button off. Take off the three little screws. Then three more screws and your done.

you could've had a column swapped in by now.

seriously, they are cheap at the wreckers and can be swapped out in 20 minutes. i've had to do it twice. but for bad tilt joints. i keep every column out of my parts jeeps just for these reasons.

It sounds like the horn relay is not hooked up the right way, worth looking at. No way I would change the column with out trouble-shooting the horn and find why it was that way. Did it always do this or is this a new problem ?

I checked the relay already twice its in there correctly. I can live with it. Just wondering what you guys thought. Right now I dont have a penny to spend so everything will have to wait anyway.
