Frame rail fuel line replacement.
Hi all. I am interested in replacing my frame rail fuel line from the tank all the way up to the front. I went to a well known auto parts store and they couldn't look up anything and suggested NAPA. They came up short as well and recommended the dealership. I had a rep at a dealership spend a lot of time with me on this and I guess that jeep really doesn't support that anymore and he suggested aftermarket tubing of some sort . I know that they seem to use those I guess what they call compression fittings on both sides one at the tank and then another one that goes up to the engine compartment. I guess that it has some sort of a flange type set up similar to what I encountered changing out my radiator at the bottom going to the steel transmission line. Any help on this subject would be great!

You need to figure out if you have a Cherokee or a Grand Cherokee. They are different vehicles.

I think that I know what kind of vehicle that I own!
I'm new to the site and accidentally put it in the wrong spot.
Someone already made me aware of that.

I was confused, too. Like said, your avatar says its an SJ, which i believe is the forum default when you sign up. You can change that to match your vehicle. Without wingless linking us to the other thread, i thought you had an XJ. You know its a ZJ, but we didnt or werent sure. You can add vehicle specifics in your profile, or even better, as a signature to show up with every post. Either is recommended. If that info is ever needed, its right there. I added a signature for my 97 XJ for this very reason. Dont feel too bad about posting in the wrong forum. It happens quite a bit around here. Include vehicle specifics somewhere and youll be good to go.
As for the fuel line, i bought one off ebay for my 97 XJ, but have yet to install it (Omix-Ada 17732.30). Fits 94-98 YJ/XJ/ZJ. It will arrive coiled a bit and must be straigntened. Use some rags to protect it while you straighten it by hand or whatever works best. Just dont kink or crush it. Remeber to relieve the fuel pressure ahead of time. Ive known guys that didnt and got a bath.

Okay now I can see where the confusion is and the fact that they must have defaulted my jeep as an SJ. To be honest with you, I have had a battle with this since I have owned it. it doesn't say anywhere what type it is. Not even on the registration. I had one person at an auto parts store call in an XJ. No mater what, anytime that I order parts for it they are always correct either via auto parts stores or e bay. I'm going to go to my profile and put some information in there as well as pictures of old Betsy as I call it. I'm second owner and bought it with 117 K miles on it and now have close to 230 K. It's been a great truck. I say to everyone that I'm almost 61 years old and never thought that at my age would be restoring a jeep. Well I should say restoring as I go along. It's been a beach vehicle as long as I have owned it and that has put some stress on it such as rust as you can imagine but do not want to part with it. I will do some updates here and we can identify what I have. I have always regarded it as a just plain Cherokee if there is such a thing. LOL!
Thanks for the response and help. I'm thinking about that same fuel line from e bay.
Will chat again and thanks!
