You do know what ATF stands for???
Why would you put it in a motor?

You're only supposed to add 1 quart of atf to 5 quarts of fresh engine oil. What did you do, put 6 quarts of atf in in?!

a quart in the oil a lil before an oil change will clean all the gunk out.

You have never heard of putting atf in your oil?
Its a pretty good detergent and like people have said helps clean out they years and years of build up and whatnot.
It has been known to help lifter ticks.

My suggestion for the OP is to pull off your valve cover and make sure everything is tight under there. The tick could be because of a lifter being too lose and some of the gunk you removed with the atf was keeping it in place.

How would u tell if lifters were loose, when removing the valve cover?......the lifters are deep/down low inside the block.

Never heard of that in 30 years of auto related work...

I use marvels mystery oil for cleaning the inside of a motor and never had any negative issues.

as you can see in the link there are bolts on the rocker arms. I would try to tighten them all down.
I think they have torque specs, but I dont know them off the top of my head.

That may solve your problem, if not then you may have to pull the head and figure out what is loose.

This is an "old mechanic's tale". ATF was formulated differently 40 years ago (and so was oil). The only thing ATF will do is thin out your oil. ATF contains much less detergent than modern oil.

Rocker arms vs lifters.......there's a big difference.

a loose rocker arm or something not tight on the top end of the block can simulate a lifter tick or something that sounds almost the same.

you know, a wise man once told me...

"if your engine needs to be cleaned out, remove it, and rebuild it. at least then it's just gaskets. but if you start breaking crap loose in it while it's running, you're GONNA end up wrecking something"

case and point.

friends don't let some friends work on their own vehicles. sounds like you may be the latter category. good luck.
