We installed a new oil pan gasket by felpro,at the time of dry fitting it appeared on the RMS side that the radius was too big, triple checked model number,, Well things didn't go well as this is what the gasket looks like upon removal
Anyone have suggestions?Run into this problem?
Definitely something wrong from the way it looks. Maybe Google the part number and see if you can find a picture that either has that same thing or doesnt.
On a side not I am pretty sure those one piece oil pan gaskets from felpro are meant to be used dry with no sealant. I've put them on 2 different SBCs and the papers stated no sealant. Neither one leaked a drop

Thinking I agree. FelPro says to not use any gunk on their water pump or thermostat gaskets, Googled it when I did my water pump, and said generally if some sort of gunk is required with their gaskets that it is usually supplied.
Contact Fel-Pro. Their customer service is great. I believe that there are two spots that require liquid gasket applied to this otherwise dry gasket. You could have had a deformity, maybe. Customer service will help you.
Certainly not that much goop either! Using way too much and you risk loose ribbons of it floating around inside the pan and getting sucked up into the oil pump. I can see if you laid down a huge 1/2" bead of sealer first that it would cause this.

I just replaced the rear main seal in my 1999. The felpro instructions say to use sealant at the corners where the u shape to bottom of block is. Not the entire U for the oil pan.
You only need rtv at the corners where the u shape ends. I suspect the rtv caused the slack in the gasket, as the gasket is already just a little bit to big back there.
