4.0l inline 6 motor has original main and rod bearings i think it is wise to replace both one main i found has a grove and rest are worn. Crank looks good no groves nice and smooth. Just for the heck of it i pulled a rod cap off and it looks worn also top half of bearing looks bronze instead of shiny metal color, that crank surface looks good also. Can i just put standard bearings back?

You should really measure the diameters, but as an old backyard mechanic, you could probably get away with using standard bearing. To be sure you can use Plastigage to measure the clearances when you install them. You can go as high as .003" clearance, but that's the upper wear limit.

Ok i will check into it thanks for the info, one more question i am going to put a new oil pump in can i prime it by cranking the engine? i dont want to have to pull the distributor if i dont have to

Unplug the CPS and crank til you have pressure.

Why not replace the camshaft bearings as well?
