I have a 97 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0. So yesterday morning my wife woke me up and said my jeep was making a weird noise in the garage. My thoughts was oh crap someone is stealing my jeep. Get down there and it is the electric fan running. The jeep had not been running for over 12 hours. I turned the key off and on a couple times but nothing. Ended up unplugging the fan under the hood. Left unplugged all day and plugged it back in and no issues now. Could it be the relay going bad? Any ideas?

 

Relays can stick but if it was off when you parked and turned on later that's very odd. If it was already running when you parked it might just be a sticky relay but you'd probably notice that it was on after you turned the engine off.

 

Probably a bad fan relay

Relay is located in the Power Distribution Center near the battery.

 

Is her name, "CHRISTINE" ??
