Default driveshaft question

i need to get a little bit longer drive shaft for my rear but I dont have the money for a custom length. Does anyone know of a vehicle that has a little bit longer rear shaft that uses 1310 u joints. I was thinking maybe the ford explorer but not sure. Or even an older vehicle that came with a 350 turbo trans. I only need it to be about 3" longer.
99 auto with the np231 and 8.25.

6'' now but 8'' by the time i get the shaft. plus at full flex the yoke is still barely on the t case. when i move to 8'' itll come off.

Though i havent measured with the 8'' lift cuz its not all here to be put on yet. Prolly will need about 3'' longer though

the longer shaft you run the risk of jambing it through the tcase if you land/hit/flex to hard.

I thoughy you already did the sye and needed to know what longer cv shaft would work instead of buying a really expensive one

no i dont need an sye if i my d shaft was a little longer. I dont see a point in buying a $400 kit when i only need the shaft. PLus I have no vibes now so i wouldnt be eliminating anything. I would do a longer cv shaft if I could find one cheap. I just dont see the difference between a longer cv shaft and a longer d shaft without an sye. Why couldnt i just drill a hole through the t case outout shaft and yoke, put a bolt through it, and then run a longer cv shaft. Thats my plan and I dont see why it wouldnt work.

What your talking is a cheap way of doing an SYE. Its called hack N Tap. http://www.yuccaman.com/jeep/sye.html

But dont drill a hole through the output shaft and the yoke. Find the right yoke to fit over the existing spline after you trim it down a bit. and then your drill and tap a hole in the end of the output shaft and bolt it to the yoke.

rubicon express sells an extended yoke but I believe its only 5/8" longer than stock. but if you do the hack n tap it'll give you more yoke on the splines.
