Default Door seals weatherstripping replacement

Door seals on my 94 2 door were getting beat . I ordered 97+ deals from quadratec and the install went good but now I can't even get the door to shut and the body lines to line up even with the door striker removed . I've heard of many people doing this as an upgrade on xj and mj. Only thing I can think of is moving the hinges outward , but then I'll have to do the same to the fender and end up with a monster hood gap. Anyone have any experience with doing this?

Get the right door seals for the '94. Obviously, you can't use this "upgrade". Sounds like rumor rather than fact.

Those doors are slightly different shapes.

Cheap alternative is to use some rope nylon rope behind the original weatherstrip to give it a firm "newer" feel against the door.

I'm in the same boat as you, OP.
Very recently bought 97+ door seals for my 92 2 door and could barely close the door with extreme force. I ended up reinstalling the original seals and have the 97+ seals in a box to hopefully sell someday.
Waste of money.

Seems like it's binding up in the front by the hinge. Im
Going to look into it today. Paid a lot of money for these hate to see go to waste.

The seals will not work on 96 and older. They are just too thick. I ended up taking my original seals completely out and taking some 3/8 size nylon rope and pulling it through the inside of the seal with some silicone spray. Works perfect . Sucks I wasted a bunch of money to find that out though. Hope this saves someone the trouble I went through!

Thanks for your sacrifice. Now I know not to order those. I will just use that nifty rope trick on my lift gate.

Weather stripping was shot and when it rained I would get a nice shower. Being the cheap bastard I am I stole the weather stripping from an old silverado in my backyard, cut it to fit, and put it on. It's quite a bit thicker, and the door shuts a little harder, but it works and I stay dry
