So last night in -12 degrees with 20mph winds I go to shut my drivers door and BAM! Its still open. "What the f...." BAAAAM. Still open. The is all messed up and frozen inside the door. So I heated it best I could, messed pried at it with a screwdriver for 15 minutes and got it spun around right and shut. Wondering if maybe something broke and I should get a new latch. If so, where? I have remove keyless entry/power door locks if that makes a difference. Any ideas in general?

talking about this part right?
junkyard would be your best beat at finding one cheap. or maybe it just froze and its fine. put some lithium grease on it and see how it does for a little.
This happens to me about once a year on the first negative degree day. I have no idea why it happens but doesnt seem to have any effect other than surprising you a little bit when you go to slam the door. I wouldn't replace it unless it happens really often I suppose.

Happened to me when it was -40 and I washed the Jeep(dumb i know lol). I just took my door panel off and sprayed a bunch of wd 40 on every part of the hinge inside the door and 'worked' the oil it in there while pressing down the door handle button. Worked like a charm ever since.

[QUOTE="cruiser54;3041244"]Do you guys ever lube those latches?[/QUOTE
I do at least once a year as the negative temps here in WI can play hell on latches, key locks, etc.

I was wondering if maybe it was just the cold temp, but its been WAY colder than that this year and it hasn't happened.
I went out today and messed with it a bit. Squirted some grease in there actually, and its working.... fine for now.
