Default DOOR ISSUE

I have had some issues with my driver side door since i bought my 98 XJ last October. There was a little bit of slack, but a very small amount. Last night I replaced the hinge pins and its didnt help at all. Its actually made things a bit harder to open it. The slack is still there and i can only open it from the inside... Any suggestions what i should try next???

Are you saying that the door is sagging? If so it's probably where the hinge is welded to the body. My 94 was starting to break on the passenger side so I just welded it back together.

It sags a very small amount. Even after replacing the pins. There is no sign of cracking on the weld. Im wondering if it sagged for so long that the hinge actually bent. The rubber piece that goes around the pins were a very tight fit. It seems a bit worse than when i replaced them. I have to pretty much slam the door to close it. It opens just fine from the inside though.

The door is really hard to open and I have to pull up really hard to open it from the outside.

I wonder if maybe the door is out of alignment then? As far as not wanting to open from the outside goes my rear doors on both of my Cherokees are hard if not impossible to open from the outside, but are just fine from inside. That might be two separate issues you're dealing with.

Have you tried adjusting the latch or greasing the mechanism, I replaced one of the latches on my jeep and it took a few tries to get it lined up well, I had symptoms like you describe.

I tried adjusting the striker hoop, but not the latch itself. How do you go about doing that? It got dark and we gave up last night. Going for round 2 when i get home in an hour. Any suggestions are appreciated!

I'm pretty sure I just loosened the 3 or so torx bolts there and moved it. Maybe I am thinking of the latch. I'm honestly not sure, it's been about a year since I did that.

I just adjusted the striker hoop and angled it a bit. It's at least back to original crappy self. Now to figure out what the real problem is.
