I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokke Laredo straight 6, 2 wheel drive. I was having overheating issues so I replaced thermostat and radiator. Overheating is fixed. But now I am noticing a small leak of transmission fluid. Seems to happen once the Jeep has been sitting parked for a bit. Only a little leak but it doesnt need to get any worse. I degreased the entire bottom side and the only place where I am seeing fluid at all is from a center bolt on a metal triangle plate on the tranny towards the front of the vehicle. Dont know what its called but heres a picture. Any ideas?

bolt just holds that cover plate on, could be the rear seal on the oil pan, depends on the color of the oil....red would be trans fluid. I cant tell from the photo, but it does look like engine oil

The fluid looks pinkish to me and husband says its definitely red tranny fluid.
then it is coming from the front pump seal on the trans, keep an eye on it, if it gets real bad, you would have to pull the trans to replace that seal. Sometimes they leak a little bit and you can still get a few months or longer out if it before the leak is too much and must be repaired.

Is the pump located on the side of the pan? Its just weird because nothings coming out of the pump to the side at all just this small amount.
the pump seal is behind the torque converter, remove the two lower bolts and remove the small bottom section of the shield, you will able to get a better look at where the leak is coming from then.....
