Default Is it difficult to replace starter for 95 Cherokee

I have a 95 Jeep cherokee and it is currently unregistered so I can't bring it to the repair shop. The starter is no good. I have to tap on it to get it to work. Is it difficult to replace? Looks easy but I have never done one before.

I removed the starter in my '89 in Walmart's parking lot and walked to the parts store to pick up my new one. I then walked back slapped it in and drove home. Should be pretty easy even if you have two left hands that are made of ham.
Just make sure you disconnect your battery before you do anything.

Disconnect the battery. Two bolts hold on the starter, drop it down, remove the wires. Replacement is reverse. You can take the wires off before dropping it, but I usually do it after as it's easier for me by doing it that way.

I just did mine on my '94 last Sunday. Wasn't to bad as mentioned. Just 2 bolts. Only thing slowed me down was trying to line the bolts up putting it back in. I did it without jacking mine up.

The last time I did one it took me 12 minutes - in the dark. Very simple, like mentioned above, 2 bolts on starter, 2 wire connections and done; nothing else to remove first or anything. Definitely disconnect battery first though, so 6 fasteners total counting battery. Don't forget to return the old starter to get back the core charge either!

If your oil filter adapter is leaking oil onto the starter, fix that sooner than later or you'll be replacing it again - cuz that's what was killing mine.
