I just ordered a new set of these for my 01 XJ (22.8#=240cc @ 43.5psi) Ford XR3Z 9F593 A4B / XR3E 9F593 A4B (MOTORCRAFT #CM-4956 )

I also ordered an open element filter and new muffler so when they all get here I will cut the cat off and put all of this on at the same time, I am hoping to see a noticable difference.

Cutting your cat off is a no-no. There is a sticky on this site that says that also.

Do you realy want to replace your stock injectors with replacements that flow up 16 % less?

Default injectors

Hey, others are chattering away about fuel economy, not me.
Kidding-- yes, I get that is attributed to better spray pattern not less flow for given load/rpm conditions. Stochiometric is Stochiometric.
I wasn't advocating, i was providing a source of info that I didn't see cited previously- but yes, i see that the specifics were covered in the previously linked article.
As for the 16%, whether or not that matters would probably depend on the duty cycle for the OEM equivalents that you identified...but no, I wouldn't be thrilled with that degree of deviation.

Honestly, if you want them to work for sure the first time, for not really much dough...just order them off of E-bay or something. There are people on there who sell reconditioned sets.

What I did is got them from the junkyard. Make damn sure to check part numbers. Make sure to get the pintle caps out of the donor vehicle for the EV6 injectors. They have a tendency to stick in the intake, and without them you will be online ordering for some. I could not find them locally. Be sure to pull the injectors out of the injector rail as straight down as possible. Otherwise, there is a small ring above the top O-ring that can come off if you cant it too far sideways while you twist and pull. I lost one off one of my injectors. Also grab an injector clip and few inches of the wires.

How I reconditioned them:

I first removed all the O-rings and pintle caps. Watch the pintle caps because they like to fly when you snap them off. I learned later that the little filters in the top of the injectors come out too, but i have never tried to get them out. Soak them in a bucket of fuel injector cleaner or Seafoam (what I used) for a day or so, then scrub down the outside with a Nylon brush.

I then took the Injector plug I cut off of the Junkyard Harness and removed the locking mechanism, stripped the ends of the wires, grabbed the 9v battery clip out of an old smoke alarm, and soldered (okay I butt connected) it onto the plug. I hooked up a 9v battery and plugged each injector in to the 9v to open it up. You can check operation and hear it click. While the injectors were open I took shop pressure air, and blew each injector out from the tip side, letting all the crap and fluids come out of the filter side.

I went and bought new O-rings (if you are using the EV1 Connector ones, go to the parts store and get new pintle caps too), re-installed the Pintle Caps, lubed up the O-rings with a little motor Oil, and slid them right in. Took me a half hour to clean them and blow them out, and about 25 minutes to put them in.

Will the injectors out of the 2.0 Neon engines work? There are three at the junkyard.

I would highly advise against cutting off your cat. You will see a very noticeable difference, your engine will not run right at all. Very bad idea, not to mention its very very illegal. If you ever have to taken into any shop for any reason, i.e. new tires, mechanics are legally required to report you. If you are that adamant about increasing horsepower you should consider a header, high flow cat, high flow muffler, etc.

I have read a lot of posts about people with and without cat's, there are a ton of people out there that dont run them on their 4.0's and have no issues whatsoever. As far as getting turned in, where I live, it doesnt matter. It will come down to what it looks like when it gets cut off, if its falling apart and blocking flow, it wont be going back on.

If you read the site rules you will see they specifically say we do not discuss the removal of Cats. Bottom line it does not matter whether your state inspects or not altering emissions systems in a way that removes any aspect of the factory installed emissions systems is a violation of Federal Law. It does not matter what state you live in when you live in the lower 48 you are bound by Federal Laws as they supersede state and local ordinances. Discussion of any topic that violates the law is strictly prohibited on this site.

Unfortunately the staff can not see or read every thread on the site so yes sometimes it will get by. That is why we rely on our members to help us when they see a thread that needs our attention. We do the best we can but we can not read nor see every post on the site.

We appreciate your understanding with this situation.
