You want the Ford yellow or orange top injector. You can use the stock Mustang or Explorer V8. The Explorer injectors are preferred.

i want to do injectors to as i was getting bad gas mileage. i also heard that the ford injectors work well to. if you want more miles per gallon switch to a new muffler that should give you a little more ump.

I agree that for the money spent this one of the best and easiest "performance" upgrades that can be done. I was getting around 14-14.5 mpgs and after swapping to neon injectors (703's) and switching to mid-grade gas I am getting around 16.7 mpg. Before anyone asks the way I calculate is by no mean scientific but considering I have the same driving patterns and routes week after week after week it works, all I do is divide mileage by number of gallons I put in.

curious as to why the stratus/neon injectors raise the fuel economy?

what are these neon injectors rated at- lbs/hr? i read that its only for later years? wouldn't work on a 93HO 4.0? I would assume its a high impedance/low impedance difference? or is it just the shape of the connector/body?

any one got the low down on 93 4.0 injector preference? I read somewhere that these are factory tuned lean and a pound or two bigger ford injector would be an upgrade, but it wouldn't be for mileage, lol.

As far as I know, any year will work and just make sure they are yellow or orange

They raise the fuel economy because of the spray pattern. Stock XJ injectors have one hole the fuel squirts out of. Neon injectors have 4 holes. That makes the fuel atomize better, thus equaling better mileage and throttle response. After I pulled my injectors out and looked at them, I'm surprised my Jeep even ran!

I did the swap. Jeep runs a little better, but I'm only getting 1/2 to 1 mpg better. I put the stratus 784's in. I had a bad injector, so for 35 bucks i'm pretty happy to get a better running jeep and a little increase in mpg.

What about for a 98? Would the neon injectors work? Does anyone have a write up on this or some article?

I believe that there is a kind of neon injector that works, but it is not the one mentioned. The best thing to do is read all of the old threads like I did. Search...the truth is out there. Good Luck!

I originally got around 11-12 MPG
96 Cherokee, how is it that your mileage is that bad, your rig looks fairly stock?
