Default Dashboard Led lighting

Has anybody put in LED lights for their cluster and if so how did it work? Was it brighter and better? In which kind of bulbs?

Mine work well, though I lost the ability to adjust the brightness so they are at max brightness. I used blue color led's and very easy to see everything at night. They were installed about 7 years ago and there wasn't an option for dimmable bulbs. I believe the are T10 bulbs.
Unlike the oem, you have to have them set in the socket correctly as to the positive/negative or they won't come on. Wish I knew that before putting the dash back together...lol

hope this helps

Nonability to dim is a no go for me. I want to retain my night vision. I hate the blue lights on my modern radio, it is a freaking light show, and it is not dimmable, I covered that stupid light display with black tape, but it still is a pain on the eyes at night. It is a safety issue specially on dark roads, but even in city lights at night it is not good, on country roads it can be outright dangerous.

I appreciate your opinion, however the dash lights in my Jeep are not bright enough to affect my night vision and haven't for the 7 years I have been driving with them. I do live "out" in the country and have never had an issue. If blue isn't your choice or color, there is white, red, green and probably many other colors available and now some T10 bulbs currently available state they are dimmable.
What I do find that affects my night vision the most is the vehicles that are equipped with the "Ultra White Super Bright" headlights that is in oncoming traffic whether in town or out in the country. Not sure why people feel they have to light up the dark side of the moon to drive at night.

Never understood why dash lights were dimmable as most of them are inadequate at best. On the other hand XJ's being a notable exception, don't understand the urge to convert to LED's unless, of course, your inner fashion victim, demands you change the colour.

Big fan of uprated headlights though (always have been) but +200%, or even 130w, bulbs properly adjusted, will not dazzle - same can't be said for many other conversions..

That's the bit I don't understand - but then I don't understand the desire for seriously bright tag lights!

Fortunately we're not all the same - or we'd all be driving around in bone stock Toyota Camrys (or some such)

I'm not sure I like the green dash lights. Marine and Navy prefers red for non-blinding. For headlights, a headlight harness and more light are an improvement but only if you have a good pattern. Bright lights scattering into oncoming eyeballs is just annoying and useless.

I've always liked green dash lights & might've converted those in my green XJ if I'd ever had to replace any, but having seen that picture I'm not so sure. I thought red was a nasty BMW affectation (which seems to have started a fashion) which I particularly dislike, even as a passenger, because they're so distracting - & make the instruments almost impossible to read, particularly when it is completely dark.

I love the green. Easy on my eyes and has a retro look. I installed them on my 88 XJ, 2 MJs, 98 ZJ and 2 Alfa Romeos.
