Cruiser's Renix Distributor Tip. Why??

Oh okay, I think I may need to turn a bit more then, the trailing edge was just barely touching at this point.
So you're saying the rotor metal needs to have left the terminal completely and there's .02" of empty space between the two?
Sorry, I just want to be sure before I potentially ruin my engine. Possible?

I believe you are correct. .020 past the terminal. When it's running, the spark will happen sooner, so it will line up better. No you will not ruin anything. Actually when I do it I may well try messing with it a bit, Put cruisers .020 figure to the test! (he's always right though)

It's only been about a week or two, but I think this distributor indexing miiiight have solved my part throttle acceleration hesitation.

Thanks for your write ups Cruiser.
I recently had my engine rebuilt. When I slapped it back in the Jeep was missing on light throttle... during the time my engine was being rebuild I also changed the injectors and cleaned/adjusted my throttle body So I didn't know what was causing it.
Anyway... long story short. My distributor was way off. The contact was even with the post maybe a little before.
Performed your distributor indexing and now it runs awesome.
