Cruise Control not working
92 Cherokee Cruise Control won't turn on. This is an electrical issue and not mechanical. I think a wire is broken on the switch to turn it on, but have not been able to remove the steering column due to a special tool needed to remove the lock. (No airbag), Is there an easy way to do this or do I need the special tool?

my CC won't come on when I turn the switch on. I think there is a broken wire in the signal light lever. It worked when I first got the Jeep but it was intermittent, then the cruise lite went off for good. I am wondering how the best way is to get into it to see if it can be repaired. Servo's and vacuum lines are OK.

100% sure on the vacuum lines?
What about the one to the switch on the brake pedal?

99.9% sure it's the wires at the base of the turn signal stalk. I fixed mine with an old USB cable years ago. GM used solid-core wires in an area that flexes. fail. Simply remove the turn signal stalk and solder a new 6 foot USB cable wires to the contacts. Splice into the original at the base of the steering column and you will be good to go. No pulling the wheel needed.
Use a coathanger to pull the new harness down the column.
Fixed my 84, 96 and 92s cruise.

Grab a piece of scrap aluminum about 2" wide 1/8" thick and 6" long. Bend it in to a "C" & drill a hole so it will fit over the column shaft. Install and tighten the steering wheel nut, once you compress the spring a little remove the retaining clip. Installation is simply the reverse.

[QUOTE=Turbo X_J;3189339]If I remember at the time the Kent Moore tool was almost $200, I found the material (a ruler) at the shop I was employed at.
Seems the OTC tool is ~$60 now.
