I've got a 2000 XJ and the cruise control works alright (when I hit set it does speed up about 2 or 3 mph, but my 97 XJ did the same thing so not an issue atm) but when I turn the cruise on the cruise control light on the dash doesn't come on at all. I don't know much about dash clusters and I'm wondering if this is something simple like replacing a bulb or if there are other likely suspects and if so what are they and what's the best way to diagnose them?

I'm teaching my daughter to drive in this vehicle and would like all the indicator lights to work as intended if possible to make things easier and to eliminate guess work.

 

Have you checked the light bulb in the dash ?

 

No, I haven't. I'm not familiar with dash clusters at all so I haven't taken it apart. Everything else in the cluster works fine. The backlight and all the other indicator lights work fine.

Edit: I looked into it and it doesn't look that hard to change the bulb out so I'll do that next chance I get and see if that helps.
