Default Is this a crack in the head?

Ordered a replacement head already. Just wanted opinions on this pic, if the discoloration is a sign of a crack. I will post more pics later in the week when I start removing the head. Too much rain and wind to get anything done this weekend.

Are you talking about the white discoloration in the middle of the pic? Between the rocker arms?

yes. that discoloration is on the head itself, it is not liquid.

I guess I should ask if that is a sign of a crack. I would think the actual crack is to the right, where the cast goes up to the hole the push rod slides through.

i doubt that's a crack, probably just part of the casting. What year is your jeep? What makes you think you have a cracked head?

While that's a tough situation due to the lighting. I have serious doubts that's a crack. More likely a discoloration in the casting or an ink mark used by the manufacturer or even a stain of some type from a previous repair. I have to agree with 93XJeeper and ask Why do you believe the head is cracked?

OP
If you already ordered a replacement head, what's the question?
If the head is indeed cracked and coolant has mixed with the engine oil, I think your question would be "should you replace the engine". A replacement head won't fix the cam bearings.
