Default Oil pressure all over the place

I went wheeling last Thursday and ended up going through a lot of mud. Afterwards when leaving the area I noticed that my oil pressure was much lower than normal. Its normally around 30 at idle and 40 under power but it was down to 15 at idle and 20 under power. And as I was driving I stopped to clean off my XJ and noticed at start up that the pressure was up to 50.

I got the oil changed and now it starts at 80 and a few minutes later it drops to 60 than down to 40 and settles back off at 20.

And when the pressure on the gauge drops to low when sitting for a while it takes a few cranks to actually start up.

Pretty typical when the sending unit fails.

be sure to get an actual Mopar part, it will be more expensive but i've noticed, that with other sensors they do not tend to be accurate, or fail quite early.

Yep. The thing is lying to you. Replace it.

Too bad we can't do the same with politicians so easily.

Thanks guys. I had a feeling that was the problem but I didn't know and wanted another opinion.
