On almost every car I've owned the electric cooling fan comes in when you select defrost or air conditioning is this the same with Jeep Cherokees? I have never heard my electric fan turn on since I bought it. Summer is on its way here and I wanna make sure its tip top shape for traffic.I might try and find a bigger fan that fits in its area as I wanna keep the mechanical fan (I know it work good). My vehicle is a 2001 Cherokee

It comes on when the ac compressor kicks on... It cycles on and off with the compressor itself.
Ok weird, i no matter what can not get it to turn on.I have never seen or hear it turn on ever. In the winter I ran 190 no matter how long it sits but now I'm noticing it go up to 200 to 210 and I start getting uncomfortable at the 210 mark and turn the heater on. I'm trying to keep the engine at its coolest so I don't get 0133 head problems. I'm waiting for Champion radiators to get some three core radiators in stock to make 100% sure it doesn't have a problem. I would be sick if I hurt this 4.0 since it runs so nice.

Don't waste your money on a Champion Radiator....
I've got a 3-row on my XJ and it's leaking like a stuck pig. The Douche-Nozzle i bought it from off Flea-Bay claimed the best warranty around.....but he won't respond to emails or phone calls.
Mine started leaking after just over 1 year of use.

Check the harness side of the fan connector for 12v- it should have power when the compressor is running. If it does, and your fan isn't coming on, replace the fan. If it doesn't, check the fuse and the fan relay.Originally Posted by Tx9h6e4cuda
