Hello All!
Did some poking around and didn't seem to find my answer. Looks like my 96 XJ needs a new condenser. Seems all the ones listed are of the Serpentine flavor, how would I know this for sure?
Looks like the prices online very from 80--200 bucks. Any brands to avoid or def recommend? Will rock auto do for this?
Many thanks,
Andy

Serpentine?
Hi Cruiser54,
Yeah, some of the listings have the word serpentine next to them. Here is the detail page from a rockauto listing.
It says SERPENTINE right at the top. I guess that's my confusion really like, what does it have to do w/ the serpentine belt.
The other listings I see are for PARALLEL. It is just about the size?

It's the design in regards to the tube routing in the condenser.
Not a huge deal. Something for people on forums to argue about. LOL.

I think those are generic photos. If you order it for the correct year, should be fine.

Serpentine flow runs back and forth through the condenser like a snake (serpent) moving through grass. It's one long tube. Parallel flow has multiple tubes in parallel, like a manifold.
The argument stems from a "discussion" around efficiency. You can read up on it if you like and decide for yourself.

That's funny the picture is not a Serpentine flow condenser check out the link it talks about A/C condensers .
