Clutch/Transmission Problems
I recently replaced my clutch in my 96 with an AX-15 transmission. I went to go off road and as soon as I put it in 4 HI and down shifted it started making a whining noise. It feels like I don't have a clutch but there was. It wanted to go into gear but the clutch wasn't fully engaging.
I replaced the throwout bearing, clutch disc, pressure plate, everything except the slave cylinder which I replaced a couple months ago.
Has this happened to anyone else or anyone have an idea as to what I can be with??

The transfer case isn't the problem. The clutch sounds like there's metal on metal grinding/whining. There is about no pressure when I push the clutch down half way then there's a lot of resistance. It still shifts fine and goes into 2hi 4hi and 4low but at a dead stop will not go into gear. I'm just not sure where to start because I don't want to take the tranny out again if I don't have to.

Ok shifting the transfercase has no effect on the clutch . Maybe linkage got moved/bent during install.Have you tried readjusting it yet ?
