How do I disconnect the clutch 'switch' so I can start my jeep without pushing the clutch? Tried searching but not sure if switch is the right word. Found info on the NSS but that is only for autos. right? I think I remember reading something about that in the owners manual when I had my 99 but this 97 didn't come with one. That leads to another question. Anywhere online I can download the owners manual? I already found the FSM.

Unless my 97 Cherokee is special it will only crank with clutch fully to the floor neutral or not.

My 97' XJ will only start with the clutch down too. I remember reading in the owners manual about disabling this function . Will check tonight and get back to you. I think this causes extra wear and tear on the clutch . Cheers

My 96 cranks with the tranny in gear and the clutch engaged!
I'm guessing the jerk previous owner bypassed it and did not tell me.
This along with a couple of other issues makes me wonder what else the cheapskate previous owner did that I have yet to find out about.
My next Jeep purchase is coming from a 68 year old retired college professor ( not some 19 year old with a pair of scissors and a screwdriver who thinks he is a wrench ) who did not know how to work on Jeeps and took his 1989 Comanche to the dealer for repairs. At least I am pretty certain it's not gonna be all buggered with. Oh and the price is right ... 89 Commanche 4X4 Automatic $500 !!!!
He took it to the dealer last month and they told him, brake lines need replacing. He bought a new Jeep and called to see if I wanted his old one.

Not to re-hatch a dead thread (the pictures are awesome and I really appreciate that!) However, my "plug" looks very different than this and I cannot get the black fitting (connected to the wires to the clutch) out of the green connector. I have a 98 xj sport, anyone else have this problem? I spent almost an hour under the dash fiddling with it and got nowhere. Frustrating to say the least.
