Lol - Hit the deer in 77 Blazer. She messed it up pretty good but I claimed her. No tag limit on roadkill in Oregon.

Actually was headed to work in the timber about 4am one Monday morning, shortly after I bought it in 1996. It was almost new then: only 20 years old

Nice Cherokee Eisenschwein! I haven't seen one that clean in a long time. Where in Oregon are you?

Oh heck ya. Portland and Bend are the beer Meccas in Oregon, but we are starting to see some good craft brew joints opening up around here. Quit a few, actually.

Took it for a quick spin around the block to make sure it still runs but I'll have to give a full report after I put some miles on it. I'd like to say it felt better but I can't tell for sure yet. All the other stuff, ground refresh, plugs, injectors, etc... have it running so sweet already. Man I'm itching to get my hands on a new TCU. Lulz
I just acquired an 89 ECU and TCU this week. I just installed the TCU today and did notice a little bit of difference. Mostly cruising part throttle around 35mph it used to not shift until a little above 35mph, but now it shifts just below. What kind of annoying shifting does yours do?

Mainly what you said... hovering in 3rd before going into 4th. I end up dropping it into 3rd around town, when I'm going to keep it under 40mph, otherwise it is back and fourth between 3 & 4.

I was the TCU in my last XJ, so I'm a little picky about my shift logic.

Do you want total absolute control of shifting logic. Check this out.

That was something I built for my corolla because of a mistake. I plan to swap a manual in the corolla someday and may re-purpose it to the XJ

Lot of work if you don't already have experience with this stuff though. Just something to stew on.

Holy crap, man! That is an obscure and ambitious project. I love it!

I'm a prepress mgr. and computer dork by trade so this is right up my alley. Don't know that I'll ever get around to it but it is a very cool idea.
