Right on, man. The C101 is my next project, will happen this weekend, before anything else. I just picked up a bag of heat shrink insulators, a length of split loom, and the wife unit brought home a big ol spool of solder from her work. Giddeyup. She works at an electronics plant and is better than I with a solder iron, so I might bribe her to help me.

Did the C101 elimination this weekend. Pretty straight forward. It runs better meow. It was idling low, cycling between 400 and 600 rpm, in park. It now holds steady at 1000, in park, 700 in drive. Feels a little high but maybe it's normal. Also feels like I have a little more power/response. Next I need to get some Volvo injectors.

I'm willing to bet your O2 sensor input to the ECU was being corrupted by the C101's resistance. seen it before.

Got some new kicks and black rims. Backspaced, 30x9.5r15. No lift... I like the way it handles and I don't go in the mud. Snow and dirt roads, pavement, so I'm keeping it low.

Nice. I like the flat black. Did you paint it yourself?

I still need to do a few of the TIPS. Mine is running great. The only thing that I don't like is: when I start it, it ramps up to 2000 rpm for a second or two, then settles into normal idle. Maybe the TPS?

Tip 5 first, if you've already done Tip 1.

Thanks Cruiser. I actually have not done #5 yet. Or #4. :shame: I have done #1 and #3 (started #2 but ended up doing #27 instead, made a huge difference).

I need to get on that this weekend. I just ordered a set of 746s and new O-rings to go with.

Also getting ready to get new plugs, cap, wires.

Good for you on number 27!!! Helps, doesn't it?

Do 4 and 5 while you're waiting on the injectors....

#27 was an immediate fix for most of the minor BS that was going on. I was amazed. Wife did 2 of the solders, then lost interest. I think she just wanted to prove that she could do a better weld than me.

I wish more folks would grow a pair and eliminate that C101 right off the bat.

Indeed. It wasn't hard at all, just a little tedious. Definitely easier that trying to break rusty bolts on the undercarriage or other tasks we take on that are less important or cosmetic. It gained mileage and performance for just a couple hours of my time, it's a no-brainer.

This is bordering on a build thread... should I be moving this out of the intro area? Forum etiquette and such...

I know I've seen something on spark plugs around here somewhere but I'll be damned if I can find it meow, even with a search (such a noob). What kind of plugs should I get for the 4.0 RENIX? I think I remember someone saying xjs don't like fancy plugs but don't know the preferred brand/style.
