changing U-joints on front axle?

Default changing U-joints on front axle?

can you replace the u-joints without pulling the axles out of the diff?

I dont know. never tired. I dont think there is enough room to bang them out and press new ones in. its so easy just pulling the axles out and squeezing it into the vise.

i wouldnt bother trying that. just pull the shaft out its easier that way

well, I'm half way done replacing the u-joints. just waiting for my wife to return with the new ones. I guess I didn't think about it enough when I posted this thread.I was thinking I had to open up the diff cover and pull C clips to remove the axles. so far the hardest part of the job was getting the wheel bearings off the spindles.

Supposedly you can do it still in the axle. But my hands are fat enough that I would never try to...
