chain needs replacing??
I might be buying a 94 xj for 700$ and he said the transfer case chain needs replacing. Does that mean i wont have four wheel drive til its fixed? And how much does it cost for a chain... and how much of a ***** is it to replace???
It's probably slapping the case..and it depends on how mechanical you are..i think its easy..of course it is taking me a while cause it's not my DD so the jeep is in pieces all over the garage lol
Also, i believe you can change it without removing the whole transfer case, i could be wrong but i think I've seen a video on YouTube where a guy did it with out removing it from the transmission
Question i could ask you is why so cheap?

Oh and its a 94 4dr auto and the interior is missin half the pieces and exterior was amateur rhino lined with half ****ty tires and need new fuel pressure regualtor. Seems like a fair deal to me
Yeah, i mean, i got mine for $800..but it was from my brothers gfs sister and it has a salvage title..it ran when i received it but I've dumped a considerably large amount into parts and tools, which is no big deal to me but i know that's not what everyone else's position is..and its not even lifted yet with a decent set of tires lol fml, what'd i get into

It really depends if that is the only problem with the t-case. You can never really go by what someone tells you when they are trying to sale it. The only way you will know if it's the chain is to open it up and check it out yourself.

Can always grab a case used for $50, swap that in and use the old one for parts, chain is around $100.
For anyone with a fair mechanical ability, it is a simple repair. Easier with the case removed, and removal is the hardest part of the repair (and that's still easy enough).

If it's broken & half gone as long as it does "run and drive" offer $350, scrap value is ~ $256.
