Default Ceramic vs. Metallic (high flow cat)

My question is very simple... Which is better ceramic or metallic bricks in a cat? Any exhaust guys out there know. Metallic are more expensive, thats all about I know. Also, how mays "cells" are needed to make a cat "high flow"? Cells refering to the wholes per square inch.. Kinda a werid question but I'm curious.
