Default Catalytic Converters

Is there such thing as a high flow catalytic converter? I put on a dynomax cat back and im not too impressed with the sound of it. I thought it would be louder but it wasn't. Is there such thing as a high flow or a supped up after market cat converter i can buy that makes it louder. I dont feel like dishin out the money for new headers. Or is there anything to make it louder that you guys know of?

A high flow cat wont make it louder but it will increase exhaust flow, quite a bit. If your looking for louder, the only thing I can think of is, getting a louder muffler... sorry

Another question...Does the cat converter quiet the engine sound quite a bit along with fliter emissions?

Its main function is to reduce emissions. but it also quiets to exhaust note as well. When I had cats welded up to my Camaro, it made it a bit quieter, but it also sounded much better. it gave it a cleaner sound. no pun intended

So If you dont have to worry about emissions (which Im sure you do) you could just cut off the cat and install a straight pipe in its place. But i dont recommend doing that at all.

Yes a convertor does quiet as well as filter. Hi-Flows convertors work as long as you use a good exhaust system and maybe even a header. No point in using a Hi-Flow convertor and restricting the rest.

Check out flowmaster. since you already have the cat back. just see if they have a muffler to fit where the dynomax one does and swap out the muffler.
