cutting the hood
I am installing vents today and worried about my paint. If i used a cut off wheel, will the heat generated from it damage the paint around the cut? I am going to tape it off where i cut of course but just worried about the surrounding paint.

if you use a cut off wheel the heat even tho you tape the area, will ship your paint, just protect the bare metal after it, and your vents should cover the ships anyway..

My buddy just did this and he did use a cut off wheel but had to do the corners with a dremel so He didnt over shoot . It will chip a hair but the vents should have a lip that will cover that area up.
This is where he put his
Yes its another 87 Waggie just with no wood panels he he.

well as you could see the guy above converted his waggie and I havnt banned him yet so I will take converted waggies but you could easily be bumped to the non-friend side if I find another friend with unconverted waggies. lol
Me and him used to carpool before I bought my first Jeep and once I started looking I just looked for 87 waggies mainly due to the 242t-case and Dana 44 rear end.

well everything went well. I tried the small cut off wheel first but it was eating my disk up fast and i only had one left so i switched to the big 7" cut off wheel but that one wasn't fast enough and was burning the paint so i had to rush it with the smaller one but i got it all done and my cut off wheel was like 2" in diameter when i was done.
Pictures will be up in a few min. Check out my vent/snorkel thread.
