Default car audio question

Hey I have a quick question, so Im now looking into a better audio system for my xj. I have a sony Sony XM 754HX amp that has 4 connections for speakers. I was planning on putting 2-4 6x9 speakers to it, but also wanted some 5 1/4 speakers in the system. So a total of 6 speakers. Is it ok to have 4 of the 6 speakers hooked up to the amp and have 2 that arent? or do all the speakers have to be hooked up to the amp? can you wire two parallel circuits to one hook up on the amp? Ive tried researching this, but havent got much of anything yet. Any help woul be great!

You can run the 6x9s to the amp and then just run your 5 1/2 to the stereo it has a built in amp and should be plenty of power for two smaller speakers

Get a better head unit, a quality amp, and four quality 6.5s. A pos Sony amp isn't gonna drive speakers wired in parallel.

Parallel wiring of the speakers would decrease the effective inpedance of the circuit. Possibly causing a problem with the amp's output circuit. If both spkrs are rated at 8ohms impedance, then connecting them in parelell would change the impedance to 4ohms. Which may overheat the amp output circuit. A two channel/bandwidth passive crossover connection might be the way to go. Hopefully someone more knowledgable will chime in with other options.

wow, thanks for the fast feedback! I was wondering if I could wire the smaller speakers just to the stereo and let the other speakers go to the amp. Thanks! I just dont know audio very well so I wanted some other opinions. Im more of a grease monkey.
