Default a/c and e-fan

1992 cherokee 4.0
Ok replaced rad from previous overheating problem, I still cant get the e-fan to work, and the a/c does not work it may be low on freon, but I think the e-fan should come on when you turn the a/c on, even if your low on freon. shouldn't it?
I checked the fuses and relays the only blown fuse was a 15amp under the hood I cant tell what it goes to (unreadable on the cover) but when I try to replace it, It instantly blows the new fuse. I don't know if this has anything to do with the a/c or fan just thought i would mention it. I'm wondering if maybe I have a short or broken wire thats keeping the fan and a/c from working.

no the fan will not come on if you are low on refigerant,if you do not want your a/c,but need your electric fan, you will need to jumper the low pressure cutout to get the fan to come on. The primary reason for the fan is your a/c.

unplug your fan and jump it to te battery... make sure it works... the reason that fuse instantly pops is cause its grounded... or you can unplug your fan and then try and stick a new fuse... it pops then its not your fan... and if your fan works when u jump it to the battery then its good and pobly means low freon...

The low pressure cutout is located next to the compressor,it has two wires going to it,just unplug it and insert a wire in both slots and see if your fan comes on when you put it to a/c.

Ok I will try that. Thanks

huntingman- I have put the fan to the batt. and it does come on, the fuse that keeps popping is not the one that goes to the aux fan.

No need to go through that hassle, simply unplug the connector from the water temperature gauge. The fan will come on since the PCM see's an open circuit for the water temp sensor and reads it as a high temp condition.

I'm pretty sure that the low pressure switch is on the accumulator and the switch you're refering to is the high pressure switch. See above for testing the fan circuit.
