Default Burnt Spark Plug. Flintstone-Pic

Hey guys. Well I got this bud in Rock Creek who actually was the model for one "Freak Brother". (ok should have been).

Was in a "Fix Or Repair Daily'. He didn't mention other plugs, or overheating, so I'm just assuming it's just this one.

Tough for me to photo! Three rounds gave me this below. Allot of melted on both ends, there IS a chip in the ceramic, and bridging deposits.

This Guy has helped me out a bit, I told him I "knew people", and would give it a shot. Autolite AP 605 Platinum in an Exp? maybe.

If I had to guess, I'd say head gasket leak and sludged up engine coupled with a plug so worn it can no longer fire.

I think you have a valve cover gasket leaking and that crud on the plug is from when you pulled the plug out of the head.

Hey guys first.. I'm a sorry case. Posted that then ran off. Under pressure here and runnen 24/7. (OK, extra busy). Much thanks to both.

BB I never saw the rig, he had it out already, then I had the plug in my console for a week. Yea oily...but then a cover leak/ the electrodes both burnt clean off? I mean there is metal flat gone! Looks like lightning hit it.

So Radi....if his others were badly eroded, and still firing, but his engine had at least one cylinder that "fouling" could result. Got that senerio. No phone or anything out there. I'll ask him when I see him about the others.

Anyway, it looks looks both electrodes "left". Then maybe "normal" gunk might have bridged it? (or a cylinder issue as Radi mentioned). Just new to me to see that. I hadn't noticed IT was platinum till I was taking the photos. Not familiar with platinum or what it does. Wonder if both electrodes are not steel. I suppose I will tell him to avoid those plugs in any case. (even that little chip if porcilin in a ring groove....)

Problem there, I don't recall seeing the positive electrode melt off like that.

I see we don't want platinum in our 4.0's. wonder if his has the same issues, melting clean away.

OK. I took a blade to it to get a better look. The Pos electrode easily fell right off. That's the Autolite Platinum.

In my VERY limited experience with them , (this one), I "might tend to concur!"

Even if some other problem helped it fail, I wouldn't want the Pos. electrode falling into my cylinder, or chips of porcelain.
