You guys are making me long for my old burgundy 2000 XJ. Nostalgia is memory without the pain! Although it seemed something on it broke about once a month, I worked hard to get it looking really nice with a brand new heavy duty stock suspension, no rust or dents, engine purring with a brand new cylinder head, and lots of other fixes and new Bridgestone Dueler tires since 2009 when I bought it. In April somebody sideswiped my wife while getting off an interstate exit ramp, and the poor old Jeep hit a cement barrier head on in the drivers side front corner. The whole unibody twisted so much the rear seat bent up in the middle, and the top buckled above the drivers door. Thank God my wife was ok! The Jeep sacrificed itself protecting her. I do miss the old XJ!
When I bought her:

I got this 1988 Cherokee 6.0 4Dr 4WD September of 2021 with only 72000 miles. It's in the paint shop now and I should have him back end of the week or next. Painting it the original color but I saw the woody and that convinced me to add the vinyl, but in a lighter shade. It's remaining very original, save the new headliner, an NP242 case and front axle CAD delete. Other improvements are LED headlamps and marker/side and dome lights. The interior is exceptional and the body needed little work. Oh, NO RUST WHATSOEVER!! Getting ready for paint Decent headliner, eh?
‘98 Winter Driver. Purchased for $800.
made rocker panels, transferred a budget 2” lift and wheels/tires from the ‘96 I rolled, new cat back exhaust, brakes all around, some brake lines, ball joints, hubs, transmission solenoids, trans pan and valve cover gaskets, starter, a few more odds and ends. Runs great with over 220K miles
