Default Tight Budget, Little more lift

Just got my Jeep, Its a 92 XJ with a 4.0 5 speed, Its got a 2 inch lift and some 30x9.50s on centerline wheels, Im broke after buying it and the tires are really low on tread, I have a set of 33s sitting here and was wondering what I can do for fairly cheap to clear these, It is a daily driver but I certainly dont mine some trimming, got a plasma and plenty of air tools to use. but still want it to look good. Its got a 2 inch lift coil and a block in the back right now. I read all around the site and have looked at a few different options, just curious on your opinions

You can probably trim to fit the 33s. Or you could consider adding a budget boost with a spacer for the front and a shackle for the rear. You might need a transfer case drop or SYE at that lift height though, and will probably end up needing to trim anyways. So if I were you I would trim the heck out of it and put it on the 33s with the lift you have, you rig would have an excellent center of gravity too. Also, you can't forget that you will probably need to regear eventually to run the 33s as you will lose alot of power over the 30s that you have now.

In a budget like that, I would trim your fenders up 1", add 1" coil spacer and 1" shackle lift, and run those 33's with it bumpstopped properly.

Maybe this will help. I have 2.25" spacers up front, 2.5" AAL out back, and trimming on both ends. I ran 33s for a while, but down sized due to bad mpg. I will probably be back on 33s here soon w/ 4.56 gears. Here's a couple pics for reference.

Cool that was exactly what I was thinking. You think just a 1 inch spacer and shackle on top of what I got. Hey "dude in an xj" how did you trim, the cut and fold method or something else?

If you put 33 on with stock gearing it will be a gutless turd on the highway. I i have 31 with stock gearing and it only sees 4 gear on flat ground. Thats my expirence. I have a stock xj and it feels like its got 100 more hp lol maybe not that much but you catch my drift.

Yeah that gear will feel pretty gutless on the highway. IMO a 4.56 would be your best bet for a 33" tire. I really want to trim and throw some 33s on my 3" lift but the gearing is the one thing that stops me from doing it. I intend on doing a regear first, or at the same as stepping up tire size. But from a fitment perspective alone, you should be fine with a spacer/shackle budget boost on top of your 2" lift, along with some trimming, to fit the 33s.

Well I had about the same gearing in my old 4wd Yota when I went to 32x11.50s and it wasnt bad at all in my opinion, my gas mileage actually went up a hair cause I do mainly interstate driving, And the Jeep is a 5 speed so that should help. But I havent dealt with Jeeps before so it might be a whole new ball game
