if you cut the spring, the overall spring rate heightens. Just get it already!!
Incorrect, PLEASE stop making this one of those threads, thank you.
Equation:
k = Gd4/[8nD3]
Where:
k = constant, pounds of load per inch of deflection
G = modulus of rigidity of spring material, pounds per square inch
d = wire diameter, inches
n = number of active coils, which is the number of coils subjected to flexure (always less than the total number of coils)
D = mean coil diameter, inches = Outer Diameter - Wire Diameter

That is the equation for a spring rate and there is nothing about the height of the spring. If you remove DEAD COILS (the right way) the height of the spring will decrease and not affect the spring rate.

You're going to make me join in, please start another thread for this so I can make you understand how overall spring rate is determined

your effort is futile - google has shown him the way evidently

never mind our engineering and physics degrees - the internet is always right

I have one of those too. Its been a few years since I used it but I didnt think the formula would change.

It had to be an extended brake line that is the same style as your jeep's lines.

Just out of curiosity I was wondering what YJ front brake lines can be used to work on my XJ? I'm doing a 3" and going with 31's with quick discos so I'd like to be sure I get the right ones when I order them....and Is there something for the rear soft line going to the rear axle? Also looking for something there because the dakota line seems alittle excessive...and just wanted to be sure they were all bolt in...Although I would assume so.

The rear line from a TJ will work and at 3" all you need to do is relocate the brackets for the front lines

I fitted YJ lines to my XJ front and rear. Used the Crown braded/extended kit which gave me loads of extra line. So much so in fact that I had to move the hardlines UP lol (3in lift)

Front's took a minor amount of filing of the connector to the caliper to sit right. Been on the Jeep since start of the year and working perfectly

I was at the jy today and got the newer manifold, the fuel rail, the regulator. The Injectors i got were out of a lincon v8, I saw on a mustang site that they use them as a jy upgrade on some of the 5.0. just wondering if anyone has tried them before? there ford part number: F55E A2E. Working on putting the engine back together and back in the cherokee or i would just pop em in and see.

thunderbird coils supposedly, but IMO it's not worth trying to make those work - there are always people selling real lift coils for cheap as hell
