There is a stator to go to 100amps for our alternator. or a custom wind. supposedly the 130d alternator has a version with our bolt pattern. I havent had the extra money to take mine down to the rebuilder to confirm that yet but you could ask your shop about it. Those can go all the way up to 200amps without having to do a custom wind. But alternator bracket clearancing may be required. There is also a guy who just installed an external voltage regulator. The wiring for that isnt overly complicated, but if you want bolt in ask your rebuilder if he has some 130 cores to compare to your stock 121
Edit. Supposedly if you drill out a hole a bit bigger the cs 144 is bolt in

So, I have a 1990 4.0, does that mean the alternator in the sticky is not good for me? I just wasted some cash then. The sticky needs to be updated.

Anything can be done if you have the brains and funding.

Figured id post this here as well.
Stole the hatch struts from a mid 90s model explorer headed to the scrap yard to replace my non functioning struts. Come to find out, theyre a near perfect replacement as long as you only use one. Theyre sightly shorter (not enough to notice really) and strong as ****. I'm 210 lbs and couldnt compress one with all my weight on it.

I found the perfect combo was one explorer and one stock. Seems the stock is working in reverse against the new one slowing it from flying up real fast. Ends are different, but easier to install IMO and work just fine. These things are super strong.. Id probably crack the hatch before I closed it with then both on there.
