Default Broken plastic on IAT sensor

While switching my IAT sensor from my old intake manifold to a new one, I dropped it on the ground and the plastic guard for the sensor broke off. The sensor is still intact. Do you guys think I can still use it without the plastic? Check out the pic.

I would probably use it if its resistance # checked out OK. Unfortunately though, no one here ever posts there Iat resistance. It seems a closely guarded secret.

Mine will go from around 2K ohms down to under 400 while good-n hot. No idea though if it's working right.

I'm basically electronics illiterate. How do I test the resistance? with an ohm meter?

Yea. A digital. The $5 harbor freight one actually works, at least for a while.

Yours is different than my Renix. I'm sure you could search it. #'s might be the same, might not.....I might suggest you simply put that in and run it, and price a new one. You will want it right, but it might not be supper critical. Do be sure no plastic pieces fall into the intake manifold in the meantime.

The "cage"on mine is metal. I'm not sure of it's function. Maybe just to protect it when it's not installed?
