Don't remove the stub. You can remove the long side though without issues.

Im not sure if a few MMs will matter w/ U-joint size (as in left /right being different) .. yokes are same size

just install em right / get correct size u-joint .. you'll be rolling again

$60 is a deal .. Im in those parts $85 plus gas & time .. so $150+

I called another pre-pulled JY .. $150

i think it will work fine as long as 27 spline, drivers side, D30 / NO ABS.. like I said, old u-joint remnants included .. can match those up at parts store .. easy

let me know man .. i would rather see someone benefit from this .. have had my share of BS .. gettin a few bucks back would be cool too .. im taking a loss .. but Im over it .. willing to help you out .. just let me know

Thanks man
Im in no hurry .. but would like to help you out .. get rolling again! sounds like you need it asap

luckily I got this 93 project in Sept .. figured out the mystery shaft since it fit .. some relief there

i did weed thru a shelf of axle shafts when i bought it, but didnt know what the vac disco looked like .. I learned alot ... as in, I didnt have to buy this in the 1st place .. i was told non-serviceable part (u-joint) .. maybe this JY should stick to scrap metal sales

from other jeep guys help on this forum .. I have done 4 axle u-joints since .. takes an hour now

i looked up new ones online .. expensive .. very glad to help you

Thanks, man! I greatly appreciate it! I'll be PMing you tonight. I should be able to pay you tonight rather than tomorrow. Everything sounds right.. D30, no ABS, driver's side, I'm just not sure on the spline.. Would there be a reason for me to have a different spline count? Does the Aussie locker change that at all? I'll ask around and see if I can get this answered tonight.

Thanks again!

Yeah, pretty sure. Previous owner said there's an Aussie in front. I've yet to do a diff change, but it feels like there's a locker in there. I have 0 issue climbing hills and stuff.

So it looks like Aussie locker splines are 27, and stock D30 splines are 27 as well. I don't see why that wouldn't work..

hoping someone will chime in on this ..before we settle up

between you & me sounds ok .. hoping we're not missing something

good part .. great replacement price for sure, it will be there fast

would like to be 100% on this .. definatly fits my 93 d30

besides u-joint size .. did the early 90 YJs have a bigger stock u-joint ?

It will fit, all jeep d30's came stock with 27 splines inners and outers. If the ujoint on one side is a bit bigger, it wont hurt it at all.

YJs early 90s are no different size than the xj unless they have abs.

Xjs with abs have a slightly larger ujoint, xj's before 95 without abs have the smallest ujoints.

thanks .. good to know

what year did the 27 spline (non abs) get a bigger joint ? curious .. this mystery axle shaft is getting figured out finally .. good stuff .. glad I got over the initial headache on original purchase

The JY offered to trade it in for something else back when .. but i gave up on them, poor Cust Svc. and 60 miles away

They all have 297x ujoint shafts in the 95+. I think 00-01 has 760 ujoints, but not sure.

All abs xjs have 297x ujoint shafts.

Spline count never changed unless you put aftermarket shafts in. Honestly, with a locked jeep on 33s, i wouldnt put the 260 ujoint shafts back in, you are just going to break them again when you are wheeling. But that just what i would do, I broke ujoint after ujoint on 35s locked, but thats me.

Awesome, thanks for clearing this up. I'll send you the payment tomorrow. Got caught up this evening and I'm heading to bed now. Have to be up at 5 haha. On a semi unrelated note, I have to confirm I have a front locker lol. I've never driven a Cherokee without one, and the previous owner said he put one in, and the diff cover is even painted red lol. I'll be doing a fluid change when I install this anyway.

Cheers, guys

Do you hear a ratcheting sound when you turn corners sharp coming from the front? Kind of like a click click click. Thats the sounds of the aussie ratcheting!

Thanks, dogkatcher!

Broke Axle/U-Joint-qezdw.jpg

So to get this set up, do I need to have the u-joint pressed onto the yokes?
