Blower Motor Resistor
Where can I find a blower motor resistor for my 86 XJ with A/C? Everywhere I look or parts places list it for without A/C which seems odd. It only works on hi. I know it's trashed. It has 4 wires in a row in one plug and a larger diameter wire in it's own connector on the resistor. I thought about wiring a rheostat on it but before I butcher anything, I'd ask.

The thing that usually fails with these resistor blocks is the thermal fuse which may be what you are calling a larger diameter wire. This assuming that the whole unit is not totally rusted up and falling apart.
The fuse can be replaced with one from Radio Shack for a couple of bucks. If you should go this route note the orientation of the fuse when replacing it. It will, of course, just blow again whether replaced or in a new unit if the blower motor is failing and drawing too much current.
Otherwise, Four Seasons or various other brands that don't mention A/C at O'Reilly or RockAuto, etc.
The resistor from my '85 w/AC sits permanently on my desk for whatever reason and I see that it has 4 coils w/5 terminals in a 3-2 pattern which sounds a bit different than yours. I think later resistor blocks may have a separate terminal for one side of the fuse which may be what you have.
