I was replacing my idler pulley and everything went well till it was time to get the serpentine belt back on and tightened up. well, in traditional jeep fashion, the last few turns of the ratchet caused the lower bolt (long one) to snap almost in half. Anyone know how to extract the rest? get a new plate? has anyone run into this problem? i'm guessing i can get a replacement bolt from napa or the local hardware store

If its broke flush, you can grind a slot in it with a Dremel and it might screw out with a screwdriver.

i did the same thing. take off the bolt on the pulley so the broken piece will fall out, then you best bet is to find one at a jy or i found a bolt with a different thread pattern bu the size i needed and then rethreaded it.
