Default bad starter?

So the other day I start my jeep pull it out of the garage, shut it off for a minute, go to start it again and it wont start. Later that day I tried to start it and it fired right up. Could it be my starter or something else? Thanks

The first thing I checked was the battery connections and they were tight.

May be the solenoid on the starter. Try putting it in neutral and start it and if it does the NSS is bad if not maybe the starter or solenoid..just take it to Auto Zone or Advanced auto to get checked...Tj

Check ALL the electrical connections AT the starter before anything else.
(Disconnect BATT of course.)
Clean the entire area with electrical contact cleaner.
Then BEFORE re-attaching BATT..inspect & clean BOTH cables & terminals.

Then determine if you need to go any further.

Replacing the BATT CABLES is a good idea as the factory cables are rather on the wimpy-side.

Also...check the ground cable AT the block.
This is one of the other culprits.

if it happens again smack your starter with a metal pipe or hammer(if you wanna get down and dirty) if it starts then I would say its your starter.

And keep trying to start in neutral to eliminate a bad NSS prob.

They are very expensive and a pain to clean up yourself.

Some will says its easy but I've done it once and hope never to do it again.
