axle ?

i looked rear is an 8.25. but front has a box head screw for the plug, and a dana logo, and the # in the top right corner says 40563. any ideas???

when i got my first jeep i had the same question on the rear axle, but the easiest way to tell between the Dana 35 and Chrysler 8.25, is the shape of the housing. the dana is round on the bottom and the Chrysler has a flat bottom. the pictures listed earlier you can easily see the difference.

Not being rude IMO but I was just reinforcing what you told him but He was right but must have missed something with the Wiki explanation.
He has a 1996 cherokee, is the year of the central axle disconnect front axle or not?
