Hey all....
I just put in an order for Valvoline MaxLife dex 3 synthetic to give my transmission a good oil change but i've read mixed things about putting synthetic oil etc in the transmission.
I kinda need a fast answer on this one to cancel the order if it shows that it wont work.
Also, what injectors can i replace my factory ones with? I have the 88 XJ with the renix system. I've found a lot of alternatives but since most of them I need to order from abroad, I kinda need to be sure they fit with no issues before ordering.
I've heard the neon injectors (95-97?) work well without mod.

Not an expert and there are much more knowledgeable jeep guys on here, but from what i've seen, synthetics only do well in very well maintained AW4s. Some say its too slippery, some say it does wonders.
I like original, but good choice on Dex III

Edit: Err seems like the transmission oil is not synthetic after all....

Valvoline calls Maxlife synthetic, but I'm not sure of the exact formulation.........
You will be fine with it. I've been running Amsoil full synthetic in the AW4 in my 99 ever since I did the first fluid change at 30k and I'm closing in on 200k.
As long as it is DEX/MERC III compatible, you should be okay.

Your choice in oil is good.
As for the injectors, this is what you want: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/199...r-swap-163105/

Read more than the first sentence :P Those are the ones he replaced. Bosch 280 155 746, found in Volvos, are the ones that you want. Pretty sure Programbo here on the forum sells refurbished ones.

Ah, yes, maybe you can pull some from a junkyard. That's all Programbo and the eBay sellers do, yank them from otherwise dead cars, clean them up, test em, and off they go! If you take that route there are a few writeups here on refurbishing injectors, it's a fairly simple and universal process.

I have used the MaxLife DexIII for over a year now and it works great. Shifting is much improved over the motor oil looking stuff that was in my transmission when I bought it. My AW4 has about 147000 on it.
