Default AutoVentShade Hood Bugflector Installation

Ok another stupid question...

I bought a "Bugflector" for my 01 XJ and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to install it. It came with 2-sided tape attached to the lip but if I attach the Bugflector so that the flange goes around the hood (like it appears to fit) then the tape is sticking out and not touching anything to secure to...

Has anyone installed one of these? How the %*$! does it attach? My XJ is driving me insane today...

Thanks guys!

From looking at this picture it doesnt look like its supposed to go around the hood all but rather attach to the header panel that encompasses the grille and headlights. See?

Can't remember which one we have, but that pic shows how ours is mounted. There is a cutout in the middle of the deflector for the JEEP on the header panel. I will also say we got around 500 miles out of the double sided foam tape. I had to peel all the foam tape off, and installed the clear gummy 3M double sided tape. I have used it for several things, and you will usually break something before it lets go.
