Default shut off and now wont run

well i might as well start from the start, i have a 1991 jeep Cherokee 4L. i was driving down the road and it stalled, i started her back up again and it was ruinning like it was miss firing and really ruff and died. it now will turn over and it wont keep it running, it just dies right away. when it first died i could get the revs up to 3500 and it would hold it there but once you let off the throttle it dies, now you cant rev it up at all it just kills it. probably a month ago i got new plugs cap rotor all that good stuff. got any ideas?

Sounds like a plugged fuel filter, CPS, or possibly a fuel pump. Start by checking the CPS and go from there. Could also be an ignition coil.

if you have spark and the fuel pump is working, check the fuel filter. check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail.

seems pretty low. Change out your fuel filter first. If you haven't changed it in awhile it would be worth changing even if thats not the problem.

Fuel filter first.

Then fuel pump.

Silly question: Is there gas in the tank?...You would be suprised of how many fuel pumps get replaced just to find there is no gas in the tank.

id replace the filter before that tho its usually the 5 dollar part that curses our cars/trucks to not run and even if it is the pump its always good to replace the filter

Did you check for pressure before the filter or after? If your not getting fuel to the rail, check your lines and make sure you don't have a kink. CHANGE THE FUEL FILTER! it's too cheap to skip the step, when you pull it out, dump what's in it into a cup or bottle. Look for mud/dirt. If there is any of that, possibly dabree clog.
