Hi. I have a little money to burn.
I like running the beaches getting down in some deep soft sand sometimes. Looking at Aussie Lockers for front (D30) and rear (8 1/4/29 sp). They say with some ability they can be installed by the DIY'er.
Opinions please from people who have them about how they like them?
Also for those same people...did you install them yourself and how hard were they to install?
Anything to be especially aware of?
Any other suggestions for lockers @ about $550.00
TIA

I love my Aussie locker. Didnt install it my self got the axle with it in it, but super quiet out back and gives great traction on the trails. Front lockers like to snap shafts/u-joints on the front shaft. Unless your doing more hard core wheeling just lock the rear and run 3wd you'll get 99.9% of the places you want to go.

Can't speak for the Aussie brand but have installed 4 PowerTrax No-Slip lunchbox autolockers in the rear of various vehicles including the XJ.....excellent bang for the buck....just follow the directions.
Amazing difference vs an open diff.

There's a GREAT wright up on it in the "XJ wright ups" section!!! Step by step, not sure if it was for the aussie, but I know it was a lunch box locker tho...
I'd also recommend just locking the rear for now, & see how that does! If all your doing is beaches you shouldn't need to lock F&R

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm psyched now!!!!! Maybe a moot point though.
Aussie is out of stock on both the front and rear parts

Guess I'll be checking back often
Thanks again

FWIW/FYI, the PowerTrax is available today at Summit. Also, it's the quiet, no ratcheting/clicking noise model.

I run an Aussei locker on the rear (dana 44) and it works great off road, on the street it takes some getting use to the racheting and noise. I run 31 tires and wheel it kind of hard and it holds up fine. would I recomend it? YES!!
